MORE ABOUT TOM

In 1989, Tom bicycled across the entire United States and he has run 14 marathons. Tom and his wife, Wendy, are the parents of two girls. Tom is a youth soccer coach and is actively involved with his daughters’ sports and school activities.

Professional Profile
Tom established DZA in July 2003 and is a graduate of Central Washington University. Prior to starting the firm, Tom was a senior manager in a large regional public accounting firm’s healthcare and public sector specialty niche. Tom has worked exclusively with healthcare organizations and not-for-profit organizations during his 21-year career. He has worked directly with critical access hospitals, hospitals, nursing homes, rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, hospices, assisted living facilities, retirement communities, home health agencies, foundations, social service agencies, associations, and other public sector organizations. He has served both the financial reporting and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement needs of these organizations.  

Activities & Affiliations
Tom is a former president of the Washington/Alaska Chapter of HFMA and served as an officer and board member for 10 years. He received HFMA’s Medal of Honor in 2003 and previously was awarded HFMA’s Muncie Gold Merit Award. Tom regularly attends healthcare association conferences in the Northwest. He is also on the Central Valley School District Board of Directors.

Tom is very proud of the firm he created and he continually strives to make DZA a great place to work. He believes in the importance of having a team approach and continuous collaboration. Tom wants all team members to feel empowered to share their ideas about providing great service to DZA’s clients.
